Thanksgiving & Beyond

Zion Ponderosa was a great place for Thanksgiving. Pattie and Kelly really took care of us. Here are a few picts from the outing.

Too bad we didn't get pictures of the kids shooting the 9mm's like gangstas.

Erin quietly intense. Megan not quite so quiet.

Beth's amazing hand-eye coordination.

In this issue...

From a car/motorcycle/guitar show at the Mesa center for the arts. Lots of sweet lowriders. Some amazing motorcycle gas tanks and a few entire bikes, and a room full of guitar art. A free outdoor concert had to be cancelled due to a crazy microburst that came through. The concert was supposed to have featured band members from Boston, Skynyrd, Foreigner and others. Bummer. But the rain felt good in the 100 degree evening.
So, the first photo is of a '62 or '63 Impala. I forgot how to tell those years apart. Below are two pictures of the same dragon head motorcycle gas tank. So cool.

And to the right, a 1961 Impala, like the two that were in the Lee Family years ago.
And a few more...
That bike to the left has a gas tank made to look like a human heart. This picture doesn't do it justice. Really creative.
 Snake Guitar art.
Okay, enough pictures. You will have to tune in next time to see Unimog photos.

Work is going well, although not knowing a lot is frustrating. My co-workers are great. It's fun to see people around me there who are older than me. And there are certainly some younger. But it's cool to know there is still a company that values its employees and keeps them. Some people have been there 20, 30 and even 40 years. I am one of many balding middle-aged (or beyond) white men with a goatee. I am such a cliche.

Going to look at houses tomorrow after work in Chandler. You can get more for your money there--bigger house, much bigger lot. But it can also be a longer commute and you don't get to be nestled in among the foothills like the Ahwatukee area. In Ahwatukee, the houses are nice, smaller, many with great views, on small lots. Definite trade-offs between the two areas. I like them both. We will look at some Ahwatukee houses next week before Beth comes down for a look see.

Okay, that's all for tonight. Peace Out.

Sept. 18, 2011

This will be my attempt to keep in touch with family & friends while I am a lone man in Arizona. Hopefully there will be some entertaining content. And edumacational content. And thought revoking. Convoking. Evoking.

Last Monday the water was shut off at the rental house where I am staying. It didn't get turned back on until Friday. Then, in the middle of the night last night, the power was turned off. I wonder if this place is actually a foreclosed crack house. And the bank that owns the property doesn't realize there are occupants. Hmmm. I am beginning to look for another place pronto.

So, I really like it in AZ. It's a great melting pot--sort of reminds me of Hawaii that way. People of every color, shape, size, and ethnic persuasion. People with neck tattoos. People who shouldn't wear spandex. A far from boring place.

My first Sunday here, I drove out to the Mesa Temple.
If I was a Kiwi, I would call it a Teemple of course.

A lovely place set in an older, sort of dumpy part of
Mesa. I hear there is a great Christmas Pagent that
is put on here each year. Or is is Easter? Hmmm.

Well then, I will try to get some other photos uploaded in the next day or three.
